Something to know about College
So this pertains to both the actual college you go to and your major. Deep down inside you will know if they are not right for you even if you are convinced this is the correct path.
I went to a community college right by my house because it was cheap and convenient. I was never proud to say I went there, I was never overly thrilled with the actual campus either. It was just where I took classes. Even for my major, I was just doing what I thought was expected of me (nursing). I hated my classes and would skip a lot. It was so easy to convince myself not to go when I really didn’t want to in the first place.
I had to sit myself down one day and go, is this what I really want. I went for nursing because it was a guarantee job afterwards, good pay and the college offered it. But was I happy? No.
Now, I go to a private university in a city known world-wide that I commute about an hour a day to get there. And I love it. Now, I’m so proud to tell people where I go to school at and what my major is. I love my classes and have only skipped once (today actually but we had that winter storm). There are some days where I’m tired and not feeling it but I go anyways because I feel like I’m actually making something of myself.
And this isn’t to say “Go to the big shot university!” I’m saying follow your gut. Maybe you went to a nice school but now you’re reconsidering it. Don’t be afraid to go to that community college after all and think about your major.
All I’m saying is, it shouldn’t matter how late in the game you switch colleges. Follow your passion and say fuck outsider’s opinions.
Yes, sometimes I panic because people my age are graduating from college and right now I’m only like a sophmore with law school afterwards, I know I’m going to try and make a difference in the world. As long as I get there, the time shouldn’t matter it’s all about the destination here in this case.
So relax, breathe and look around. Are you skipping class because you’re exhausted or because you just hate it. Chances are, if you hate all your classes you hate your major too. Just reconsider things and don’t be afraid to make changes.
